February Book Club
Ann Mah Event
We hope you can join us for a special event on Thursday, February 18 at 6 pm as we welcome Ann Mah, author of Kitchen Chinese to the store.
Ann will be sharing a presentation on her favorite foods and places in China. Food and beverages will also be provided. There is no charge for this event, but seating is limited, so please call or stop in the store to reserve your spot.
Dani Shapiro at Scape Gallery
For this month's Pen on Fire Speaker's Series (at Scape Gallery in Corona del Mar) the author will visit on a Thursday night -- February 25, from 7 to 9 pm. The guest is Dani Shapiro, author of the memoir Devotion. She will be in conversation with Barbara DeMarco-Barrett, she'll take questions, and sign books.
Tickets are $20 each, and include drinks and snacks. Laguna Beach Books will be on hand to sell books. RSVPs are necessary as seating is limited (more limited than usual, for this one). Cathleen Falsani Event
Please join us on Friday, March 5 at 6 pm for an event with Cathleen Falsani, award-winning religion journalist and author of The Dude Abides: The Gospel According to the Coen Brothers.
This event falls on the eve of the International Day of the Dude and also the Friday before the Oscar's. Come hear Cathleen's thoughts about A Serious Man and the Coen Brothers' other films. Cost is free.
Kelly Carlin Event
Please join us on Saturday, March 13 at 5 pm to welcome Kelly Carlin to the store. Kelly will be reading from her late father George Carlin's memoir Last Words, and also from her essay published in the anthology Dirty Laundry.
There is no charge for this event.
Léon Bing Event
Please join us on Sunday, March 21 at 5 pm for a special event with former model and award-winning journalist Léon Bing, author of Swans and Pistols: Modeling, Motherhood, and Making It in the Me Generation.
Léon will read an excerpt from her book, answer questions, and share stories. There is no charge for this event.
