October 5-11 | Banned Books Week EXTENDED
Laguna Beach Books will recognize Banned Books Week in our store with an activity we’re calling “Blind Date with a Banned Book”. Come into the store and check out our banned books display, then take a chance on buying a “mystery” banned book of your own (but which one will you get?). A fun way to support the freedom to read and to fight censorship.

Laguna Beach Books is proud to join the Neighborhood Congregational Church in commemorating Kristallnacht – The Night of Broken Glass – with this powerful story of survival. Karen Baum Gordon shares the tale of her father, a Holocaust survivor, whose thwarted attempts to save his parents had multigenerational effects. Local musician Jason Feddy will emcee this event. You can purchase your copy at Laguna Beach Books prior to the event for the author to sign.

BOOK CLUB
Monday, November 10th | Author Virginia Evans The Correspondent
Join us to discuss a debut novel that is quickly becoming a beloved favorite. The story is told through a series of letters, and through this correspondence a lovely tale of self discovery unfolds. “Sybil is a character you will not forget and this book is a GEM” says Lin.

THIRD STREET WRITERS MEETING
Sunday, November 23rd, 2 pm – 3:30 pm

The Third Street Writers are dedicated to the literary arts in Laguna Beach. This month they’ll meet in our bookstore to celebrate the First Amendment with the Fall of Freedom reading event. The public is invited to participate: you may share your own original writing (limited to three minutes), read from a banned book, or just listen in and enjoy the company of this dynamic group.

TRIVIA NIGHT AT LAGUNA BEACH BOOKS returns, this time with a holiday theme! Join us on Monday, December 8th, at 5 pm, for an evening of fun and friendly competition. Trivia categories include literature, geography, popular culture and more. Wine and appetizers will be served, and a $10 donation is appreciated.
